About 2 years ago I thought that there has to be a way to get these made for us in a way that we can not only give people first quality, but do it at the prices that have made us famous (OK, known. [legend in his own mind syndrome]).

So we started looking for contract sewing houses that could make this for us. We found a few, and some of them are still under contract with us, but we still couldn't get the price where we wanted it.

We thought of Pakistan, but the problem there is that while some of the houses are good, especially if they are making under contract, the quality can vary, and you'll never get what you want each and every time.

So for the next year we continued to search for a way, and no matter what we thought we had found, and no matter how excited we got about it, we still did not get the combination of quality and price we wanted.

We had, basically, resigned to putting this in the dream category.

Then, around July of 2000 we got involved in a conversation with a rep., who shall remain nameless (hey, our competition reads this), and he said, "Why not China?"

I was kind of flabberghasted. First, I think of China when I think of junk. Second, I also think of China when I think of production in the millions.

In the next hour I got an education. And while I did need to take a deep breath when I signed on (and a trip to the bank) we went ahead and ordered a sample run. Now, let me educate you a little, their idea of a sample run is more than our normal production runs. And you have to pay up front, and pray.

Well the shirts came in. The leather was perfect, the workmanship beautiful, and the pattern wrong!

So we got another bite of the sample run, and this time beautiful!!!

We are absolutely astounded at the combination of quality and price that we have been able to obtain for you. The really great part is that we know that we will continue to get the same shirt, time after time, year after year.

Further, we now have a relationship with a firm that will, with your business, enable us to develop more items at equally great prices, so that we can, at last, do what we wanted... bring you high quality leather clothing at reasonable, no, rock bottom, prices.

This may sound corney, or contrived, but we are more interested in bringing really decent products to the leather community than we are in making a ton of bucks. We work for a living, we look for bargains, we shop sales. What we always wanted to do was to put an end to pricing leather products based on their sex appeal (lust appeal) and get pricing in line with standard consumer products. Our suppliers both love and hate us. We give them business, and, thanks to you, quite a bit, but we always are looking for a better price, a chance to reduce our costs, and reduce our selling price.We have succeeded in many ways, and now we can add our leather clothing to the list.

We know you will like our contract import line, and I am more pleased than you can imagine that we have brought the price of Leatherman's clothing down to the level that most of us can finally afford.
