| There is very little new in this world, especially when it comes to leather gear. We walk around with cell phones, and consider ourselves lucky that this new technology allows us to keep in touch. In fact, this new technology is only a series of minor changes and improvements on a specific phone that was used for "Watson, come here, I need you". If I understood electronics better, I could probably point to how that phone was built on other, earlier, technology. My point? (Yes, I do have one) Another leather firm is constantly complaining that everyone else is copying their concepts, and producing cheap knock-offs of their original work. In general, I dispute the claim that their work is original, and seeing that we don't make anything cheap (just inexpensive), they aren't talking about us. Nevertheless I found the most recent diatribe to be even more amusing, because they were introducing a new product with that tirade, and that new product was something that we have had on our site for over 4 years! | In fact, they had modified our concept, and made it a little nicer than ours (and also twice the price). Am I complaining? Not in the least about the duplication of product, only about the whining. For that matter, I like the update enough that I will probably re-work ours as well, and offer it as a deluxe version of our current product. There ain't nothin' new in the world, just a bunch of improvements. If you like theirs better, buy theirs. If you like ours, buy ours. Just please don't fall for the "ours was first, and ours is better" crap. It wasn't, it isn't, and you should have the final decision, not them, not us. Jim |
